Mother’s Day Weekend

May 10, 2016

Mother’s Day was such a fabulous day and weekend! We finally made it down to our cabin after being away from it for a while with a busy April. PLUS! The marina opened so we could get our boat on the water!!!! I have been looking forward to boating more than usual, so I was in full anticipation to be on that boat with a beer in my hand!

IMG_2651

Leo hardly even knew the boat last summer, he was just a teeny baby! So I was anxious to see how he would do on it. And he LOVED it. Had to get used to the life jacket, but he really enjoyed looking out at the waves and driving with Daddy. And Ivy is a boat fanatic! So she was all over the place loving the ride and telling us to “go faster!” at every opportunity she could :)

Friday was absolutely GLORIOUS outside. We went boating the in the afternoon, then again for a night cruise! It was just so nice to get out on the water. The Lewis and Clark Lake is so beautiful!

The rest of the weekend we hit the beach, went paddle boarding, and just enjoyed the indoors and outdoors. The kids were great all weekend and the beers and sunshine kept flowing. It was a perfect kick-off to the summer!

I’m so thankful for my children and family. Being a Mother has brought me so much joy and happiness. I love being around them and laughing and giggling together. The hugs and kisses make my days and fill my heart. I’m one lucky Mama!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and Mother’s Day!

Leo // 11 Months

May 8, 2016

Leo11months-5

Leo is 11 months old today, Mother’s Day! So sweet. We are sharing a milestone on this special day, then we share birthdays in a month too! Still can’t believe that little stinker was born on my birthday! And I can’t believe he’s turning ONE in a month! EEEEK.

Leo11months-7

This month he’s changed so much! He’s really starting to thin out and get long, which means his baby fat is already going away, SAAAAAAAD. I can really tell in his monthly photo collage down below that his face has already lost that cute baby fat! :( Growing up baby Leo!

He’s getting to be so funny lately! He definitely has a voice! He screams and says “AHHHH!” at all times of the day and really loves to show off his tricks, such as shaking his head now, clapping, making noises with his mouth, and basically doing anything that makes a weird noise. He is quite the character. This picture is him screaming and I can’t help but laugh at it!! Ha!

Leo11months-8

Leo is seriously the sweetest. He’s so cuddly and absolutely loves to be held. He still tucks his little feet under his butt as I hold him and sucks on his two fingers as we get ready for bed. It’s my favorite part of the day, having him lay his head down on my chest, ahhh, the best. Never got that with Ivy so I am tooooootally soaking it up!

Leo11months-11

He has started walking with his walker and cruises all over the place. Those jelly legs as they begin moving them are the funniest! He tries to get everywhere as fast as he can and pulls himself up on everything. He was crawling so fast with his head down the other day and ran straight into our rock fireplace (ouch!). It was pretty funny and he shook his head, cried for a second trying to figure out what just happened, then went on his way. So cute! Boys are tough!

Leo11months-12

He still really loves forts and LOVES to get dirty! He wants to get into everything and touch everything with his hands. He likes to be where the action is and I usually have to go searching for him around the house because he likes to wander around. Leo is LOVING being outside lately which works well with our family! Can’t wait for lots of summer fun with this boy.

Leo11months-9He has 8 teeth (four on top, four on bottom) and eats just about anything! Loves fruit, especially blueberries and DEVOURS Mac-N-Cheese and avocados. He is a really good eater, thankfully!

11 months of Leo! I can’t believe how much he’s changed this month! He looks so long and thinned out, missing that baby fat now that he’s cruising all over the place. Love month 4, he’s so chubby and cute!! Leo is looking like a little boy lately instead of a teeny baby! I’ll go cry now! It goes by too damn fast :(

And we can’t forget about sister Ivy! Leo totally lights up whenever she walks in the room. I love to see him smile at her and want to be around her. Siblings, love!

And of course she is usually picking on him. But he will get her back someday! ;)

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

May 2, 2016

Mother’s Day is coming up! A time to really tell your incredible Mother how much she means to you and do something a little nice for her. I still really spoil my Mom and we do a brunch and a gift between us sisters usually. And now, as a Mom myself, it’s fun getting spoiled right back and getting lots of extra hugs and kisses from your kids and husband. Nice having thoughtful days like this to be acknowledged for all the hard work we do!

I am a huge stationery fan and Rifle Paper Co always has the most gorgeous floral cards, like this one! Head downtown Sioux Falls to Oh My Word! – I know they have this brand! A card is so sentimental and I love writing my thoughts down to explain to my mother how much she’s done for me and how much she means to me. I love cards.

Well, to the new Moms, old Moms, or Moms trying-to-be, I hope you have a relaxing and special Mother’s Day! Here are a few gifts that I’m eyeing for myself (hehe) and some gifts for my Mother-in-law and my own Mom! So many special women to honor on Sunday!

Mother's Day

wreath // bracelet // candle // vase // boots // notepad // mug // cake stand

I think my favorite thing is the wreath! It’s a seasonal wreath subscription so you get a new wreath with each changing season. Call me old, or something, but I LOVE wreaths! I love to decorate my door with the changing holiday or season and these wreaths are SOOO gorgeous!

And of course, a gift is always fun to receive, but there are a few other things that I think every Mom should receive as well!

1. Flowers! So chliché, I know, but who doesn’t love flowers! They smell fabulous, look fabulous, and always bring a little of the outdoors into the indoors. These flowers look AMAZING! I love a farmer’s market flowers in the summer and this Sunday the farmer’s market at the Falls opens! (Sunday at the Falls) Take your Mama to brunch downtown (Bros and MB Haskett are always fabulous!) then hit up the Farmer’s Market, how perfect does that sound?!

2. Speaking of brunch, no Mom should have to cook on Mother’s Day! Our day off!! Take your Mom out to brunch and for dinner do take-out or your husband grill some dinner! And don’t forget the wine and/or mimosas! YES

3. KIds – NO CRYING or WHINING FOR THE DAY (wishful thinking 🙏)

4. Pampering! Pedicure, manicure, facial, massage, or all of the above? :)

5. Sleeping in! Dad, your turn to get the kids from their beds! Let us Mom’s sleep! I’m just begging till like 8:00! :) But one of my eyes will probably be open bc really, can we ever sleep peacefully when the kids are up?! NO! Just want to lay in the bed for a few extra minutes, ahhhhh. :)

Mother’s Day, a special day for us Mamas! Being a Mom has been so rewarding, I feel like it’s Mother’s Day every day by getting to spend it with my kids! Just another special day to remind myself that I have the best job in the world, being a Mom!!! Cheers to all you Moms, we endure so much joy, happiness, struggles, hardships, and we somehow still smile when our kids come running in for that kiss and hug even after they just spilt goldfish all over the floor! We are amazing and I hope you all have a fabulous Mother’s Day! xo
