Bambino Babysitters to the Rescue!

September 27, 2018

Babysitters – Where are they when you need em?! Seriously, babysitters are like the world’s greatest thing on Earth, can’t live without them (goodbye kids, Mama needs a BREAK!), but they are SO HARD TO GET. I have three girls in my neighborhood whom I LOVE so dearly (Chloe, Clare, and Shannon!!!! xoxo), but we all remember those days of school, and sports, and friends, and boys, (and more boys), and family… they always have something going on. Then that leaves me with my other five girls, who I rarely use, but I have their numbers, and they’re fabulous, but it’s a little weird when I have to ask them and they haven’t heard from me in months and then of course they’re also unavailable. Then there are those numbers you have from other friends or referrals, but you’ve never met or even used them, but you’re just so desperate that you ask them too but then they aren’t even open. Been there? It’s those moments where you will TAKE ANYONE. ANYONE! Such desperation! Lol! Ugh, yeah, I feel like that often! It’s a never ending struggle! NOW – there is an App for that! Haha – Enter BAMBINO!!!!!! The glory bells in heaven are ringing so loud right now!! :) Can’t wait to tell you about this!

A little back story – the above situation was me last week. John and I had a long day planned on Saturday at the Sanford International and I had literally asked EVERY babysitter I have in my phone, probably about 12 girls. Insert every excuse – homecoming, football game, work, out of town, no response … literally not one was available.

That’s when I heard about Bambino! A friendly, safe, efficient, and trustworthy babysitting app connecting parents with local babysitters that have been recommended by neighbors and friends. SO FANTASTIC! I used it last Saturday for the first time (MacKenzie you were a star!!) and I LOVED it so much I’m partnering with them to tell you more and also how you can earn FREE babysitting money including one give away to a lucky follower for a $50 credit! But first, let’s talk about this life-changing app!

Kitchen Inspiration

August 29, 2018

Now that we have our kitchen design down, time for some inspiration to finish the look! I told John, I GET THE KITCHEN, because I’m the only one that cooks! 😆 So it’s been really fun (AND HARD!) dreaming up my dream kitchen and how to achieve a timeless/antique/modern/character filled kitchen. I initially thought – WHITE KITCHEN. I’ve always loved the timeless clean crisp look of white, but it really wasn’t calling me with how the house is so rich and bold. I have been loooooving the navy and dark kitchens lately. So I scoured the internet and Instagram for all the inspo and I’m loving how it’s going to turn out!

CABINET COLOR: I’m all about the bold and moody colors for this house! With the rich stained wood beams everywhere I want some bold colors in it to match! I chose Farrow and Ball Hague Blue for the entire kitchen. I was going to do two-toned with white uppers, but was kind of hating how it didn’t match. Plus we plan on doing very white counters and white walls so I think we will be okay with the rich deep bold blue color.

Here is Farrow and Ball Hague Blue: isn’t it dreamy!

Kitchen DEMO!

August 28, 2018

We’re knee deep in demo and designing phase right now and I’m so excited to share more from our house project! The house is COMPLETELY destroyed right now it seems like, so it’s so sad! The upstairs is like a tornado because we completely demoed it since it had two apartments (two kitchens, two laundry rooms, etc) to get it back to single family living. But we have visions for what it will look like when finished, and I’m drifting off into never never land each night with dreams of our house and the finished product. Well okay, sometimes nightmares, but mostly all good dreams! Or I can’t fall asleep because I’m thinking too much about design, ugh. Either way, it’s been a fun process so far and I’m learning WAY MORE than I ever thought I would know about anything house! See our first post and more pics of the original house here.

Our FIRST house goal goes to the … KITCHEN! I have huge visions for this space! The old kitchen was not original, in fact, it was an outdoor patio turned into a kitchen, so we weren’t dealing with a historic original space that we couldn’t change. But the one thing we definitely want to keep, is the CEILING! The ceiling has arched latticework that was covered up since who knows when, then discovered by the last owners in 2001 when they were changing a light fixture! It’s SOOOO BEAUTIFUL and they were even featured in This Old House magazine for the find! Latticework was really common for patios and this one has gooooorgeous woodwork and neat details! We will just paint it white to brighten it up!

First Day of Preschool 2018!

August 27, 2018

Ivy had her first day of preschool today! Leo’s is tomorrow! I can’t believe summer is over and we are heading into fall and school already! Just crazy! We had such a fun summer as we opted for less camps/plans and more fun! We spent so much time outside swimming, playing, and swinging! So sad to have it over! But also sooooo ready for a consistent schedule again. The kids are ready to see their friends on a daily basis again too!

Ivy and Leo are both at Central Preschool this year. Ivy is a Playful Penguin M-Th and Leo a Humpty Dumpty T/Th. Only 9-11:30, just a little something! We’ll have Fridays off so that can be our fun day!

I’m excited for Ivy to get better at recognizing letters and writing! I can’t believe how much she learns each year! And Leo is ready to play he says! Ha! Continue reading
