Shared Girl’s Room

May 29, 2017

Ivy and new baby are going to share a room! I can already imagine them staying up past their bedtime chatting about princesses and happy endings. Looking forward to that best friend and sister bond. But first we had to get through the process of redecorating! I opted for a pretty simple room and OF COURSE kept the pink wall (color is Amaryllis by Sherwin Williams) :)  The other three walls were a bluish gray that I haven’t liked since we moved in, so I finally got rid of it since I had to patch a bunch of holes to move around art anyways! I painted those three walls Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore, looooove the soft crisp clean white. Ivy helped out with picking where she wanted things, except that she wanted the crib RIGHT next to her bed, I had to talk her out of that one, so cute, haha. She’s really excited to get baby in there! It’ll be a few months until the transition into sharing a room, but I’m happy to have it done already!

Starting with the baby’s crib corner. This is Ivy’s old crib. I love that Jenny Lind spindle style. So adorable. I chose to match Ivy and baby girl’s crib and twin sheet, love the pale pink and white. The swan adds just enough decoration to the pink wall!

Moving on to Ivy’s side of the room. Hers basically stayed the same, but she LOVED the flamingo animal head so had to have that!

Now to the dresser. I LOVE this dresser! It has tons of room, big drawers, and is actually a really great piece, for IKEA! The right half is new baby’s clothes and left half is Ivy’s. Plenty of room!

I had so much art work from before, so I wanted to reuse some of them. The shelves worked great to add the art and some other decor.

Really happy with the way it turned out! Nice to be a little more minimal in there and thankfully her room is big so plenty of room for her baby! My favorite might be these animal heads! #targetdoesitagain

Happiest At Home

February 24, 2016

Since becoming a stay-at-home Mom, it’s been such a whirlwind. Leaving my teaching job to be able to stay home with our kids was a difficult decision, but watching our children grow up right in front of me, and me being able to raise them each day, has been the greatest gift I could receive (thanks Hubs!). I am soooo very happy that I get to spend so much time with them and teach them about life. Being with them makes me so incredibly happy.

Getting the chance to see their personalities take shape has been the highlight. We had the opportunity to take in-home photos with Amie Hansen Photography. I was so excited to be in our natural environment at home and for her to really capture what it’s like in my daily life with Ivy and Leo. I’ll have to say I am SO happy with the photos! There are so many special moments captured from our days at home and interactions between the kids and I and Ivy and Leo together. They turned out AMAZING! She truly captured Ivy’s spunk and hilarious antics, while also capturing sweet Leo and his loving side. And the biggest capture… a Mother’s love. I think they are PERFECT! We are definitely HAPPIEST AT HOME :)

Ivy has become so spunky and is a gazillion miles an hour! She’s so hilarious and I just can’t get enough of her! I mean, that smile is contagious :)

And then you get her to sit for like two seconds and get a tad of a cuddle, and then I’m drawn in even more. LOVE.

Sibling interaction… I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT!!! Ivy is pretty sweet on Leo and she is always trying to copy him, it’s so funny! The baby things she does are hysterical!
koch0017 koch0014Then, there’s LEO. My boooooy, so sweet. Just loves kisses and close holds from his Mama. And his two fingers :) His tired signal.

Mama and son moments. So cherished.

Hehe, Ivy being her silly self. Quite the entertainer! All eyes on her! Passing time with an easy game of peek-a-boo full of laughter :)

And then there’s “Mama’s bed,” as Ivy calls it. A warm naturally lit room where everyone can cuddle and play together in a comfy spot. koch0101koch0104koch0097koch0099 koch0066 koch0105 koch0079 Onbed

And that’s why I love being a Mom. The hugs, kisses, cuddles, and laughs are what makes my days joyful. I can’t get enough of these two and indeed, I’ll cherish these captured moments between mom, daughter, son, sister and brother… forever.

Ivy’s BIG GIRL bed!

November 11, 2015

Ivybiggirlbed-2

I am so excited about this! I’ve been ready to get Ivy out of her crib, albeit the napping issues she’s having I was a tad nervous, we went for it anyways! She’s 2 now and I was ready to cuddle into a bed with her during story time before bed and swoon over how adorable and teeny she looks in a big bed :)

I started looking at beds and I really wanted to keep with the white look she has in her room. She had the Jenny Lind crib and I love the spindle look, but I also really liked a new modern look. I came up with these three!

Left – Jenny Lind Bed // Middle – Petite Marguerite Bed // Right – Larkin Metal Bed

We eventually decided on the Jenny Lind bed! I loved the dainty pretty look of it for her crib so I knew I would love it for her bed also! And we went straight to the twin. It also comes in a toddler bed, full, and queen, and even a doll bed!! SWOON! We also got the guardrails just in case she rolls out of the bed. She moves quite a bit in her crib so this is a safety precaution.

Next, BEDDING!!! This was the fun part! Ivy’s room has a pink wall (color is Amaryllis by Sherwin Williams) and the accents in the room are mint, coral, and other pinks. So I wanted to keep in that scheme of colors. If you’ve ever seen the Land of Nod catalog, I love how they pattern play and mix and match bedding and pillows. I went with this perfect mermaid quilt, it’s so cute! And I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid as a kid, sooo I’m kind of living vicariously through Ivy :) For sheets, I went with the mod botanical stripe sheet set to add a little pink to it. I also got a couple mix and match pillow cases – the pattern party case, the I heart case, and a pink ruched throw pillow for fun. Add a BlaBla doll and it’s complete!

I love how it turned out! And Ivy absolutely LOVES it! She’s so funny!

Leo’s Hipster Nursery

October 28, 2015

Hipster nurseryI totally put the PRO in procrastinator on this post!! Never really got around to posting these pictures and so many of you have been asking, sorry!! Well here they are finally :)

I went with a hipster vibe for Leo’s room. I love the black and white with a few pops of color and fun obnoxious prints and I really like how this all turned out! (Here was an inspiration post from a while ago as I was planning)

I am a sucker for a cool gallery wall and I like the randomness of the things I found for his room. Adding some dimension with the animal characters sticking out makes it really neat I think. And John picked out that paddle for his outdoorsy side, love the addition!

A crib sheet is a main focus in a room! This was a perfect black and white spunky hipster that we found. I love it with the bowtie bears! Very funky! It was a little out of my comfort zone, but glad we went for it :)

Boy Nursery Inspiration

March 2, 2015

Ok, so, I’m getting really excited about a boy. EEEEEE! The clothes and decor are LEGIT. I’ve always just paid attention to girls’ stuff, but this boy thing is getting to be pretty fun. I’m LOVING and OBSESSED with all of the crazy fun prints out there and everything black and white modern. I am really bad at coordinating things, so eclectic is right up my alley. Plus, then I can mix and match all of the fun prints and colors that I can’t decide between! I tend to just buy things I like, and somehow it all works ;)

Here are some of the things I’ve pinned (see Pinterest page here) and some of my favorites for the nursery so far!

Boy Nursery Decor final

Prints – ABC // wild and free // chevron name // I’ll eat you up

Fabrics – alligators // bowtie bear // plus sign curtains // feathers

Pillows – mountain // walrus // neon mountains // triangles

Toy bin // fox knit doll

Blankets – blue ombre // bears and trees // neon trees // foxes

Isn’t that “I’ll eat you up I love you so” print the best?! That’s a must have for me. I also really love the bowtie bear fabric! It’s like THE hardest thing in the world for me to decide on crib sheets, and this is the fabric I went with! I also did the alligators for the changing pad cover. I am having Ivie baby custom make them both because she’s pretty much amazing, and I can’t WAIT to see them!

Also, I’m really obsessed with blankets this time around for some reason. There are sooo many fun prints out there and I’m such a sucker for swaddling!! And basically all of the prints can be made into leggings too (holla!). Little Woolf and Lola and Stella have been my favorites to browse.

The nursery is a gray, so I’m making sure to get a lot of white to make the room a little brighter. We bought this modern white crib and this dresser from Ikea for some bold furniture in the room. I plan on transferring over our rocker from Ivy’s room into baby boy’s room so we bought this grey modern ottoman to go with it.

Loving the B & W combo with pops of colors and fun prints! We will see how it all comes together! (SQUEAL!)

And did I mention, boys ARE just as fun as girls :)

John workin’ his construction skills and hanging up the curtains. That’s a stud finder in his pocket, but I think I’ve found my stud! ;) (CHEESY!!!!!!!) PS –  I love the arrow finials for the curtain rod!
