Time for a girl’s trip! I hadn’t left Faye yet so I was so overdue for a getaway! I was so ready for a some time away with long-time girlfriends that make you laugh till you cry! And also excited to go shopping and actually try on clothes without kids and eat at some hip fun restaurants while devouring delicious food!
We have a group of 10 girls from high school (Sioux Falls Roosevelt!) that were besties and we’re all still close! We try to get together once a year for a girl’s trip and this year we did Minneapolis. Six of the girls still live in Sioux Falls, three in Minneapolis, and one in Chicago, so Minneapolis is a close pick!
We stayed at this super cute Airbnb – we loved the white and black vibe and all the vaulted ceilings.
Thursday night we went to Hai Hai, a fabulous hipster Asian American restaurant. So delicious! Had the coolest wallpaper and fabulous food and cocktails! I had the Balinese chicken thigh rice dish, sooooo yummy! Even tried the chicken liver pâté (it was actually good! BUT WEIRD). Also had the spring rolls and chips and dip. ALL DELICIOUS. Cocktails fab too!
Friday we spent time shopping at the Galleria and headed to Surly Brewery for happy hour and dinner. What a cool place! We sat upstairs on the patio and had some great brews and crisp stone-oven pizza. Nothing beats beer, pizza, and being outside in 70 degree weather! THE BEST!
It was so so windy up there at first! But once the evening came it was PERFECT! So nice to be sitting outside enjoying a brewski!
Then… the whole gang! All 10 Weasels! (Our nickname, lol!)
After enough beers to fill us up there, we needed a cocktail and headed to Betty Dangers Country Club – “A Kooky Restaurant and Bar” – and kooky is the right word! Such funky wallpaper everywhere and it felt like a mini Vegas! Fun spot to check out. It even had a Ferris Wheel and that was a blast!!!!
Saturday we headed to Moose and Sadie’s as we all crawled out of bed. This is one of my favorite spots! I love that district and the shops around it. We scored a spot on the sunny patio and enjoyed a warm brunch and coffee and convos in our sweatpants :)
We continued to walk around that area (love all the cool buildings and shops!!!), getting a drink at Bachelor Farmer and shopping at the coolest stores. I love beep bopping around in between shops. Outdoor shopping is the BEST!
Next, we spent some more time shopping (10 girls, duh) in the area then headed back to get ready for CINCO DE MAYO! We went to Hola Arepa for sweet and spicy delicious margaritas on the patio and a Mexican dinner with lots of salty chips and sweet/spicy salsa and chunky guac inside. Never fails that I fill up with the chips and salsa and can’t finish my dinner! I don’t care! Gimme all the chips and salt!!
So many margaritas! DELICIOUS! I had the shredded beef and plantain arepa to go with it… mmmm!!!
Headed home today and after staying up late laughing and dancing all night to all our old school jams and getting up early bc who can even sleep in now (#kids), we’re all bound to be tired but mindfully rejuvenated to love on our little kids and husbands again!
Thankful for girls who know you inside and out and share memories from decades of friendships! We’re a lucky bunch! xo
