Easter Cheer

March 28, 2016

Easter Eggs

So much happiness and cheer this weekend! Easter made out to be the perfect holiday at our house! Full of family, friends, good food, and laughs, it was just perfect. Even the sunshine peeked out! The Easter egg hunt in the snow made things kind of interesting, but very memorable to say the least! Ivy and Leo were the cutest little bunnies and Ivy had a blast searching for the Easter eggs and seeing all the goodies the Easter bunny brought her and Leo. It was a glorious holiday indeed! He is risen!

EasterSunday2015-16-min-minEaster weekend is here! Now if Spring would come along with it. That snow! ARGH! At least it’s mostly all melted away, but still : / This picture is from last Easter (see that post here). Ivy is so teeny! I was mondo pregnant, practically 8 months, so I was, well you know, 8 months pregnant : /  Anyways, I’m anxious for Easter Sunday – church, egg hunts, Easter baskets, and delicious food! Should be a fabulous weekend with family. I can’t wait to for the Easter bunny to give Ivy and Leo their baskets. I love all this kid stuff! #nerd

Hope you have a fabulous weekend and a Happy Easter! He has risen!

Filling the Easter Baskets

March 24, 2016

The Easter bunny has hopped right over to our house and filled Ivy and Leo’s baskets! So much fun putting them together :) I had lots of ideas of what to get and ended up going totally random this year. I decided to shop local at our fabulous toy store in town, Child’s Play Toys, and support the small business. Ivy is obsessed with the toy store! She loves to go down there and play with all the toys everywhere! We also wandered over to Unglued (which is a totally rad store filled with regionally made items, like a local Etsy almost!) to pick Ivy out a hair bow (she HAD to have the cupcake one!!) and Leo a toy from Seedling toys, which are made in our very own Sioux Falls! Seriously talented people here! So it made out to be a fun shopping trip for us! The only thing not from a small business are the water cups – of course from Target ;) #becauseTarget

Ivy’s Easter Basket

bought at Unglued – cupcake hair bow // pink hair bow // felt ball necklace // bought at Child’s Play Toys but linked to Amazon – jump rope // markers (here or here) // hair brush // lamb pez // lamb // ice cream cone lip gloss // Target – water cup //

Kinda went with a lamb theme with Ivy’s basket. She carried that lamb around the whole time at the store, over all the bunnies! So I had to get it :) I’m pretty excited to give Ivy that jump rope! We have some older neighbor friends and she was trying to jump rope with them the other day and it was HILARIOUS! She’s definitely too small for it, but it’ll be fun to see her try :) Also, she’s totally into lip stuff right now AND ice cream, so ice cream lip stuff, cha-ching! Hairbrush – girl is getting some serious bed head lately! She will have fun combing her own with this yummy scented one. And the Pez – I can see her carrying that around for the next week. She is a candy-a-holic :)

Leo’s Easter Basket

bought at Unglued – rattle // bought at Child’s Play Toys but linked to Amazon – bunny // truck // musical egg // fox wobble toy // wiggle book // Target – water cup

Favorite – the wobble toy!! So cool! The wooden rattle is awesome also, and handmade right here in our hometown :) Leo loves anything that makes noise, so that egg shaker will be perfect for him. And the Wiggle book, he’ll have fun sticking his finger in there! Lastly, time for some boy toys around here, HONK HONK blue truck!!

Leo’s basket // Ivy’s basket

Leo the egg burglar!!!

Scored this gorgeous peony table runner! It’ll be lovely setting up for Easter!

And I’m SO excited for Ivy to wear this dress for Easter Sunday. It is from The Patchery (blog post about the brand here), which is a super cool brand where you can design your own clothes, then they make it for you! AMAZING! Ivy and I had tons of fun mixing and matching to create her ultimate dress. She loved when it arrived in the mail! And I could hardly take it off of her at night, then she asked for it on again in the morning, haha! So proud of her design skillzzzz :)

Easter Sunday Prep

March 22, 2016

It seems too early for Easter! It’s usually in April so it’s feeling like it got here too quick! But it’s here! THIS Sunday! EEEK! Time to prep. We are hosting at our house so I’m ready to whip up some tasty food, mingle with family, and watch Ivy and Leo hunt for some eggs, which will certainly be the highlight :)

Here’s Ivy with her Easter egg hunt last year, tehehehe
EasterSunday2015-2-min-min

Holy wow! She was so little and hardly had any hair! Hubs is looking good though :) Hehe

EasterSunday2015-16-min-min

Love looking back at old photos :) Anyhoo!!!

Back to my brain… thinking about our Easter menu, we are going to center it with a big ham. We did a ham for Christmas and it was SOOO delicious, so we are going to use the same recipe from Pioneer Woman (Glazed Easter Ham) and hopefully I can replicate it! Here is some other inspiration I found while beep-bopping around the internet to complete our Easter menu.

BRUNCH. I LOVE brunch. This quiche, OMG. Looks sooo good.

cowboyquiche1

And MIMOSAS! Or these grapefruit cocktails! MMMMM!

Sparkling-Grapefruit-Cocktails

And I love all the salads out there right now! Spring makes me want to eat light and healthy (sometimes). I’ve been obsessed with arugula lately and this salad is so good. I like to add candied walnuts or pecans! Or this asparagus and strawberry salad looks yummy too!

Strawberry-Spinach-and-Asparagus-Salad_7414

Or you can do asparagus for a side! Which is what I’m going to do I think. Asparagus is really in season right now so I certainly plan to use it. I won’t like the smell of it later (YUCK) but I love the taste! This asparagus salad looks divine.

And isn’t this Easter egg dessert so cute!

Easter Egg cookie

But really, this strawberry shortcake is calling my name! Grand Marnier whipped cream, ExCUUUUUUUSE me?!

Strawberry shortcake

Can’t forget about the table setting. I’m obsessed with this part! This one below by the super talented Emily Henderson is SO AMAZING. The gold silverware (link here from Target!!) is the perfect compliment to the table full of pastels and pretty. The flowers are just beautiful. And OBSESSED with the mint linen napkin.

Easter Table Setting

I also love these napkins. Very lovely detail. Probably going to go to World Market and pick those up :) And the white milk vases are gorg! Click here to go see more of this table setting below.

And after lunch will be the Easter Egg Hunt! I’m going to dye eggs with Ivy this week and WHOA are there lots of ideas out there! Here are some helpful hints to get just the right Spring colors. Click here for the easter egg coloring and dying guide like this one below and even more colors on the link!

Hope this helps organize your thoughts a little. Because mine are still out there somewhere! And if you still are searching for something to wear, I think this dress is so lovely. Hope you have a Happy Easter! He has risen!

Easter Basket Goodies

March 17, 2016

Last year I had so much fun filling cute Easter baskets with a bunch of fun goodies for my little bunny Ivy. This year, Leo gets to join in the fun and so I have to think of some boy items too!

I always love to pick out a good book that goes along with the holiday so Ivy and Leo learn about the holiday and all of the traditions that go along with it. Last year we read Llama Llama Easter Egg, and she’s still loving it now. She’s obsessed with the Llama books! I think a pair of pajamas is fun too! Ivy would die over these Princess bunny pjs! And these bunny pjs are hip for Leo too. I love getting them an Easter bunny stuffed animal too!

I am anxious for the Easter Egg hunt too this year! I’m going to fill some of the eggs with a hairbow for Ivy, she’ll FLIP when she opens it! These, these, and these, are adorable.

Oh and LOOK AT THESE BUNNY DRESSES!! I wish they weren’t all sold out! : / Bummer!

Easter Basket2

Girl – bunny dress up kit // bunny headband // glitter crayons // water bottle // bunny // wooden doll // book // rain boots // toothbrush // bunny plate // pink bunny toy //

Boy – bunny // bunny rattle // chalk // book // race car // rain boots // teether // sippy cup // blue bunny toy // sunglasses // toothbrush

More ideas for filling the Easter basket are play-doh, fun shoes for Spring like these in pink and navy, nail polish, stickers, sand play toys, and of course, bubbles!!! We can’t get enough bubbles around here in the summer. Hope this has given you a little inspiration!

And Target has some really cute festive Easter baskets and eggs. They’re so trendy and cool now! Those plastic eggs have come a long ways! :)
